Bruckner – Symphony No. 5 – Furtwangler. Posted by Thang Nguyen in Pristine. Bruckner, Furtwängler. Label : Pristine Format : Flac track Cover : Yes. Tracklist : Anton Bruckner Symphony N. in B Flat Major, WAB 105. Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Wilhelm Furtwängler.

Bruckner: Symphony N. Furtwängler Conducts Bruckner: Symphonies Nos. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9. Anton Bruckner. This packaging, which originated in 1989, is a digital restoration of the 1942 Berlin Philharmonic concert recording of the Bruckner Symphony No. 5 with Wilhelm Furtwangler, surely one of the greatest interpreters and orchestra-conductor teams in the Bruckner symphonice genre. The DG package includes intelligible notes on the resurrection of the original tapes from the Soviet Union, which apparently took them as booty after the war, and further notes by Klaus Lang and Karla Hocker, who traveled with both the Philharmonic and Furtwangler and relates some of their conversations.

5-8 Symphony No. 8 in C minor Berliner Philharmoniker, Wilhelm Furtwängler. Furtwängler has left us with four live concert recordings of this fabulous symphony. Many connoisseurs consider that his most unforgettable performance was that of 17th October 1944 in Wien

Anton BRUCKNER (1824-1896). Symphony no 5 in B flat major, WAB 105. Wiener Philharmoniker. Wilhelm Furtwängler, conducting. Date of Recording: 08/19/1951. Venue: Live Festspielhaus, Salzburg.

The Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major (WAB 105) of Anton Bruckner was written in 1875–1876, with minor changes over the next two years. It came at a time of trouble and disillusion for the composer: a lawsuit, from which he was exonerated, and a reduction in salary.

Bruckner, Anton (1824-96). 5 in B flat major Berliner Philharmoniker Wilhelm Furtwängler Label: DG. This recording of Bruckner’s Fifth Symphony had been published several times: USA, 1982/84, Bruno Walter Society (Denon CD 536); Germany, 1989, DG (471 297-2); Japan, 2005, Opus Kura (OPK 7013) and Russia, 2006, Melodiya (RCD 10 01103). There were also other releases, most of them of questionable sound quality.
