BE is Pain of Salvation's fifth studio album, released by InsideOutMusic in September 2004. It is a concept album focusing on the existence of God and humankind. Along with the band it features a nine-part orchestra, The Orchestra of Eternity, which features prominently throughout the album. This is the last album to feature Kristoffer Gildenlöw on bass. The album is the first Pain of Salvation album to be divided into more than three chapters.

BE is Pain of Salvation’s fifth studio album, released by InsideOutMusic in September 2004. The band performed it live as a rock opera. It was released as BE (Original Stage Production).

BE Studio album by Pain of Salvation Released September 27, 2004.

New album 'In The Passing Light of Day' out now via InsideOut Music!

With this album though, which includes elements of folk, rock, metal, crazy amounts of effects, and sounds that simply sound as if they came from another planet, Pain Of Salvation took the step forward away from stereotype, and towards far greater respect. This album is a MUST HAVE as well as all other Pain of Salvation albums. Daniel is a very well educated person (he has studied more than 5 different "philosoph-ish" courses). Distorted Vision June 25th 2005.

It may be safe to say that never in the history of rock & roll has an album creaked so alarmingly under the weight of such a ponderous concept. On Be, Swedish prog rock legend Daniel Gildenlöw sounds as if he has simultaneously discovered theosophy and Mahler.

  • I consider this album to be one of Daniel's masterpieces. It is not perfect, but damn near close. The subject matter alone is complex, and the music matches its intensity. If you listen to only one Pain of Salvation album, I would suggest this one hands down. It has changed me every time I've listened to it. From the beginning narration, to gods voicemail, you can tell that great thought and effort were put into this album. My only qualm is that Daniel is pretentious, but he backs it up album after album.
