Derek Jarman's final film was consisted entirely of a blue screen with the flickering shadow of his person appearing and disappearing on its surface. His voice and a score composed by Simon Fisher-Turner of sound effects, performed music, and rhythmic appliances was its soundtrack. The film met with extreme reactions because of its somewhat blasphemous concept. But it also met with great empathy: Jarman made his film all but blind.

As visionary filmmaker Derek Jarman was slowly dying of AIDS, in a cruel irony he was also going blind. Yet this spurred him to make a film that was simply a screen of shimmering blue, accompanied by a narrative drawn from his diaries & embellished with ambient sounds. This is the soundtrack of that film, essentially a spoken word piece in which he ruminates on mortality, passion, fear, homophobia, victims of world horrors, his childhood memories, his day-to-day struggles - all bound together by an ongoing contemplation of the color blue & its many meanings. The result is a monologue.
